There are of course many similar results. When using Linux, quick searches often yield great results. Odds are great someone has encountered the same error, installed the same program, or made the same mistake sometime before you

Thanks JK, I did the install as per the link. Good instructions in the vid on how to make a quick launcher also of interest.
Problem:- Skype goes to the start screen but gives an error message "unable to connect". Anyone know what that's about?
I'm still working on this. The version of Skype I got from the Zorin software center is Skype 4.2 - so it seems I need to update to Skype 4.3. However, as yet I have not found simple instructions for doing this.

You can download the .deb file from the skype website. You install it using the dpkg -i {.deb filename} command. Make sure that multiarch support is installed if you're using a 64bit system.

OK this is what happened:- I have the .deb file in my downloads folder.
I've entered the command "dpkg -i skype-ubuntu-precise_4.3.0.37-1_i386.deb"
I've got an error message that an administrator privilage is required.
I've entered this command "sudo dpkg -i skype-ubuntu-precise_4.3.0.37-1_i386.deb"
Got a message saying the file can't be found!!
So this is where I'm at now............
My guess is that this means I need to remove Skype version 4.2 before I can install version 4.3.
