How do I get Amarok to decode and properly play mp3 and also possibly wma files? I added the livna rpm package but what then?
To play an Mp3 file with Amarok, drag and drop the file you want to play into the playlist window and hit the play icon.
As for wma you will usually need the W32 codecs available from the Mplayer website.
Check the install/readme files as to where to install them.
