Question MySQL password & Comp's host.

Hi,

I'm wondering if it is safe to set MySQL root password the same as the box's root password? Or should I pick a different password for MySQL root password?

Another question is how can I change the host name? I'm currently using Slackware 9.1, and the host name is 'darkstar'. In the /etc/hosts stated this:

# By the way, Arnt Gulbrandsen <agulbra@nvg.unit.no> says that 127.0.0.1
# should NEVER be named with the name of the machine. It causes problems
# for some (stupid) programs, irc and reputedly talk. :^)

# For loopbacking.
127.0.0.1 localhost
# This next entry is technically wrong, but good enough to get TCP/IP apps
# to quit complaining that they can't verify the hostname on a loopback-only
# Linux box.
127.0.0.1 darkstar.example.net darkstar

With that statement above, how can I change the host name?

Thanks.

Don't know if it's any help but think my thing, which calls itself 'debian', is:

127.0.0.1 debian localhost

or possibly 127.0.0.1 localhost debian.

Sounds a bit scary somehow - both root's the same.
