First of all, get rid of Fedora 10 and Red Hat 9 as both of those are obsolete and unsupported now. Install a newer version of the distribution you want to use (Fedora is at version 15 now). You can do MPI with gcc, but you'll need to install an implementation of MPI (such as
Open MPI) first. Your distribution may provide packages for MPI.
