Mandriva and Xerox Printer
OK...
I'm fairly new with linux and all (though quite experienced with windows) and I've got a very annoying problem.
I recently installed Mandriva ONE on my office PC and, so far, it has been running great (better than XP was in most instances). I picked Mandriva because my fellow employees are very basic computer users.
The problem is in printing: Using OOo 2.0 (though, the problem reoccurs regardless of editor) the printer will print maybe 1 out of 3 tries.
CUPS and the driver were installed automatically when I loaded Mandriva and, as far as I can tell, that stuff seems to be in order. The problem seems to be that the print jobs never completely get queued... it hangs on processing. Sometimes restarting the printer fixes it, sometimes restarting the print server fixes it.
Being a Windows user, I assume this to be a driver issue(?)
It's a Xerox Workcentre M20 - Xerox has a ppd (postscript driver?) available for using this printer with linux, but I'm unsure how to install this.
I'm drawing on your collective knowledges for this one. BTW, I'm not afraid of using the console as long as I'm well advised.
