When I select windows on the lilo boot screen it starts my windows pc recovery!? I'm running slackware.

Could you post the output from fdisk to list what partitions you have?

fdisk -l

Could you post the contents of /etc/lilo.conf to show what partitions lilo knows about.

My guess is your recovery partition is the first partition on your disk and the installer mistook that for MS Windows. I would think you could straighten this out by (both as root) editing /etc/lilo.conf and then running the command lilo.

If you need more detailed help, please post the output of

run as root, and the contents of /etc/lilo.conf

Yup. That is one of the differences between LILO and GRUB. To use a very imperfect analogy (if you happen to have done any programming), LILO is a bit like a compiled language (i.e. you have to run the "compiler") while GRUB is more like an interpretive language (you only have to change the config file).

Should I understand from your question that you have solved your problem?

EDIT: You should also be aware that LILO (unlike GRUB) stores the absolute locations of the files it uses. So if you change the absolute disk location of any of the files LILO uses to boot, you need to run lilo again or you can't boot. (I got burned by that one when I "defragged" a MS Windows partition that contained the (handful of) files for DAMN SMALL LINUX, which was one of multiple options for booting using LILO.)
