Question I can't find a driver for my modem

I dual boot from a Compaq Pressario sr1503wm. My modem is a Scientific Atlanta 2100 with a usb hook-up. I get internet on my win-xp drive but not on my Ubuntu 8.10 drive. I can't seem to find a driver for my linux system. Does one exist?

You may have better luck using the Ethernet port rather than USB. It is also possible you have to change Authorization settings before Ubuntu will allow you to use it (permissions). Check in System/Administration/Authorizations.

Also check your user's privileges in System/Administration/Users & Groups to see if your user is allowed to Connect by checking the appropriate box(s) in the User privileges tab.

The ethernet cable was the way to go. I didn't have to configure anything, Internet started right up.
