Hi,
Thanks for providing those links. I feel sorry for not considering those links as a possible solution to my problem. I checked 'readme'. It says:
%perldoc AnyEvent::Gmail::Feed
Actually i dont have linux system at my home. Tomorrow i would check it on my lab computer.
Thanks for providing me this hint. Actually, i just wanted to provide an example program to my students. Our objectives are same. I am also spreading out Linux in my area. Many people use Windows. As a result of my project, several students installed Ubuntu on their systems. If you have time, I am also not in a hurry for its solution. Only some groups (particularly female students) may stuck but you know its not my headache. I am trying & i have asked them to switch to client Server computing if the email program doesnt work. Thanks for your cooperation.
Zulfi.
I'd like to ask you take out the comment about "female students"; I personally know quite a few
women in IT who run circles around you (& myself for that matter), and I find the generalised statement
above offensive.

Agreed...and I find it HIGHLY amusing that zak100 can't seem to install a Perl module from source, or write a simple Perl program (despite having worked with Perl for over a year now)...but that one of the module dependencies he's having trouble with was written by a woman (the mooseX package on CPAN).
Only some groups (particularly female students) may stuck but you know its not my headache.
Wow, you sound like an excellent teacher. :P
Would you mind posting information about which course you will be teaching, at which school, the names/numbers of those courses, and when they're scheduled to start, so that your students will be able to make an informed decision as to whether to take it?
well well well i dont think there's anymore into this thread to follow or help..
From the first to last post of OP, he is not ready to try/learn and keep looking for a ready dish to be served.
We should stop this thread.
Hi,
Thanks for providing me so many replies. Its appreciating that you all are paying so much attention to my problem. God bless you people. Right now I am not able to install the modules using CPAN or yum.

I am doing what i can do. I am not a master like you people. Being a teacher i have to do other jobs also like assessment. This is almost the end of the semester. However I have extended the date of project submission due to problem with email program. I cant hide this. Its something which gives me privilege.
I have posted the problem. Lets see how you solve my installation problem. Without installation, i cant write the code.
Hi,
Thanks for providing me so many replies. Its appreciating that you all are paying so much attention to my problem. God bless you people. Right now I am not able to install the modules using CPAN or yum.
Because you're obviously not reading the instructions or the messages that are CLEARLY on your screen. Again, since you've been using Perl for over a year now, why can't you read the instructions, and install any module from source?

...and this is a GREAT example. Since the installation failed, HOW DO YOU EXPECT YOU'D HAVE ANYTHING TO READ??? You DID NOT INSTALL IT.

And that is because you show no effort of your own, and expect people to give you handouts. If you want someone to do your work for you, post your questions on the LQ Job Marketplace, along with how much you will PAY someone to do your work, and someone will be happy to. But begging for handouts over and over is obviously not working, but rude as well.

Your workload is not our problem...your lack of effort IS. Again, this is something that can be done in far less than a single hour, if you applied ANY of what you've been told so far, just in THIS thread. If you look at your past posts in the Perl forums, it should also be trivial. This is not a matter of you being overworked...it's a matter of you being plain lazy.

Please, stop lying. No one here believes you're a teacher, at least I don't. Your arguments are very illogical, and this is AGAIN proof of that. You said before that you DO NOT teach programming...so why is ANY program needed for anything you DO teach? Didn't you say you just provide 'insight'?? Which is it? Any school that would hire you as a teacher, based on your displayed attitude, work ethic, and lack of knowledge, certainly wouldn't afford you any 'privileges'.

No, I think we're all done babysitting. Your problem has been answered MANY times....and based on your posts here and in other Perl forums (going back SOME TIME now), I think you lack the skills needed to write ANY code. You have not demonstrated ANY willingness to read or understand what you're told, and you keep coming back here, and flat out LYING to us.
PAY ATTENTION: Show effort of your own, or don't bother posting.
Hi,
If you cant provide me any solution please accept your defeat. Instead of providing me solution, you are asking for solutions from me. You are discouraging me from promoting Unix. Due to your non-cooperative behaviour i have decided to boycott your forum.
Hi,
If you cant provide me any solution please accept your defeat.
No, you have been PROVIDED solutions, but you obviously cannot UNDERSTAND them. If you bothered to read the instructions on ANY of the perl modules, you'd see how to install them...but you don't, or can't understand them. Either way, we aren't going to type things in for you...if you need that level of babysitting, you need to hire a consultant. Also, be aware of the "Why don't you show me if you know how to do it??" tactic is well known...people don't fall for it. We're not going to spoon-feed you things.
We can provide you solutions, but we can't make you understand them...to quote Ron White, "You can't fix stupid".
Quote:
Instead of providing me solution, you are asking for solutions from me.
Nope...we're asking you to actually DO YOUR OWN WORK.

Nope...we're asking you to SHOW SOME EFFORT

Thank you...hope you find other forums where you can beg for handouts, with more success. I'm sure your 'teaching' colleagues have many for you.

GoodLuck.
Zulfi.
I see now that there's no language barrier here. It actually takes a writer of great cleverness to spin this as something that we, and not you, should be ashamed of.
I hope that you never come back, that you never try to "promote Unix" again, and that you're fired for not being able to do your job. Your comment about "female students" was so disgusting that I can't even.
Actually i dont have linux system at my home.

yet you don't have it at home? that's not convincing at all.

hmm.
it seems that you fundamentally misunderstand something here.
but hey, good riddance!
in case you ever decide you want to join this or any other linux online community again, i suggest you read the texts linked in my signature. really.
Looks like it is posted (post# 42) by some old man. But I feel that nobody is able to solve the problem. Some of you found this type of post on other forums also. They do not have solutions too. So its a universal problem. The problem with you guys was that you were not able to understand the problem. It was not a coding problem. It was a installation problem. That's why I called it as your defeat. Maybe defeat is not a good word. That's why you people got boiled up. I dont want to reply to any irrelevant post. Because its below the level of a teacher to talk about such a garbage. Do not regard it as disgusting. You are not throw out of the *ar. Follow what the old man says.
Finally thanks for those who tried to help me.
Sorry you may ask for the solution. So I have solved it using GMAIL PRO. Its not showing me attachments but its a signal that i have got an email.

Several have solved it, but you are unable to understand the solutions.

If you have been asking other forums, chances are they have provided the same/nearly the same answers. The only thing all this has in common would be the person asking, and their inability to understand the answers.
Quote:

We understood things clearly. To sum up:
You wanted an exceedingly simple program to check an IMAP server for new emails
You didn't want to write it, and asked other people to write it for you
When that didn't work, you copied code from the Internet, and then asked people to spoon-feed you details about how to install/modify it
When people tried, you didn't understand what you were told, and copied something ELSE, and repeated.
Quote:
That's why I called it as your defeat. Maybe defeat is not a good word. That's why you people got boiled up.
No, we got 'boiled up' because you were rude, insulting, and flat out lied to us, not to mention you showed ZERO EFFORT OF YOUR OWN.
Quote:
I dont want to reply to any irrelevant post. Because its below the level of a teacher to talk about such a garbage.
..and we get you being a liar here. You said you were 'boycotting' this forum...yet you came back. You say you're a teacher, and you are VERY OBVIOUSLY NOT a teacher. Again, if you are a teacher, you've been working on this 'project' for over a YEAR now. You are either the most unqualified teacher I've ever seen, or you are a liar.
Quote:
Do not regard it as disgusting. You are not throw out of the *ar. Follow what the old man says.
No idea what you're even talking about, but yes, your lack of effort and lies were fairly disgusting.

No, no one is going to ask you for anything, because you're incapable of providing an answer. You downloaded something, and seem proud of the fact that, after a year, all you can do is use something that someone else wrote...and even that challenged your abilities. FYI, as pure entertainment, I used the IMAP module from CPAN, and was able to do EXACTLY what you're after in 34 lines of code, and it took me less than ten minutes.
