First ever download of linux mint 15 or any linux all seems well except that the space bar will not work when typing I just type one long word any advice please.
please include the computer specs
CPU,RAM,the age if older than say 5 years
Is it 32 bit or 64 bit ?
if a 64 bit computer is it a 32 bit or 64 bit OS ( version of mint) ?
is this a real install to the hard drive ?
or a virtual install on something like virtualbox
or
is it a "live" version running off a dvd
Is this a Desktop ,or a laptop, or a "netbook / tablet" handheld ?

this should not be the problem , but might .
if the default language is NOT the same as the country you are in
say, for example "English" but you are in Germany or Japan . That might cause some problems , but should not these days .
Also if that was the issue there might be more problems
can you read the logs ?
/var/log/???
the "massages" and "boot.0.log" files should show an error
also there might be a "xorg.log" if so look for a " (EE)
that double ee is an error
on the boot screen where you login , there also might be a link to any boot error massages
if so are there any errors
English selected country Au could this be an instal problem or the keyboard playing up program seems to work 99% ok although I couldn't start FF from the tool bar but could from the start menu which I could before.
