I recently downloaded fedora workstation 21 via torrent and burned the image on a dvd. When boot the machine from the dvd drive it boots perfectly. But then the system becomes unexpectedly slow. To check sometimes I press the caps/num lock to see. I find that it takes some time to light on or off after the key press. Next I don't find any pointer though the mouse is working fine. I don't know how to install this os on my machine.
I had already gone through the articles before even downloading the distro. I didn't find any problem with the system requirements. I am running a machine with AMD made processor (AMD Phenom II X2 555, 3200 MHz, 2 cores) and nearly 500 G of hard disk space. I think newer versions of fedora have some problem with NVIDIA chipsets though I am not quite sure.
the problem with nvidia is the vid card driver. akmod and kmod fail to give you a log in screen after installation and boot. i ran into that this weekend. i had no slowness issue at all otherwise in fact, it was the fastest fedora install i have ever done and was quite surprised and pleased by it. i do have a similar processor in my machine. are you sure it is not a hardware issue like a failing dvd or failing ram or failing hard drive?
