Error loading 'kio_file' After an Synaptic Packager update(Dolphin File Manger prob)
This is the very first week i have tried linux. I downloaded PCLinuxos KDE 64 bit version and loaded it just yesterday. so obviously green still. My question is how do fix Dolphin file manager. This problem occured after simply updating whichever applications or "moduels" i had installed from the KDE version i got online. Updating my applications was the very first thing i did after getting linux installed.
All i see under dolphin is "Error loading 'kio_file'". No icon appears when i click on any hard drive or the home button. It WILL tell me how many items are in each device but it does not actually show them or let me access them. And i am truly lost in the sauce when it comes to anything dealing with linux at the momment. If anyone has any assistance they can provide it would be greatly appreciated.
Do you have the libkio5 and the kdelibs5-plugins packages installed? Run dolphin from a terminal and see what/if any error messages appear. That may help to diagnose the problem.

Actually my coworker came up with a solution. My computer would not naturally reboot from the GUI. He showed me how to do what he called a "gracefully reboot" and it seems to have fixed the problem. also i was told i need to install package updates in root mode. And ty for the advise i'm still trying to grasp the linux concept. its very interesting stuff
