Dual boot, with XP, won't show linux fedora core 4

SOS.

After wiping my hard-drive I installed XP Home and then Linux Fedora Core 4. After Bios boots up, it immediately goes to XP and will not give me an option to select Linux. I have partitioned my hard-drive. Any suggestions? It's been two weeks of research, and I still can't figure it out.

Hi and welcome to LQ. Did you choose to install the bootloader (grub) to the MBR during the Fedora Core installation? One thing to note is that Fedora Core 4 is now unsupported and no longer recieving upgrades as well as security updates. I suggest, you take a look at Fedora 7 or wait a few days for Fedora 8.

There is a way to add the Linux to your XP boot option.
But you will need to get to the Linux partition, this can be done by using the install CD or a Live-CD to boot into a Linux environment and then doing a:
dd if=/dev/hda2 of=/bootsect.lnx bs=512 count=1
and then adding an entry for the bootsect.lnx to your boot.ini file under XP.
Do a search in this forum if you need more info.

Good luck.
