[SOLVED] debian 6 can't see partitions on SATA

hello, my dear friends
I just installed debian 6 on PATA 80 Gb and it recognizes disk not as /dev/hda(as it was on previous system) but as /dev/sda. I also have SATA 250 Gb disk, which is partitioned(9 parts) but new system recognizes it as /dev/sdb and there is no /dev/sdb1,...,/dev/sdb9 partitions.
After doing

Code:

#partprobe /dev/sdb
#ls /dev/sdb*
/dev/sdb  /dev/sdb1  /dev/sdb2	/dev/sdb3  /dev/sdb5  /dev/sdb6  /dev/sdb7  /dev/sdb8  /dev/sdb9

they appear, but after reboot they lost again.
I also tried to mount /dev/sdb1 but ...

#mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt/media/
mount: /dev/sdb1 already mounted or /mnt/media/ busy

by the way I can't fsck /dev/sdb1

the partition is not mounted for sure
i've got a lot of information on /dev/sdb and i really need to mount /dev/sdb7, /dev/sdb9
can you help me with this, please?

after some research I start to think that problem lays somewhere in device-mapper, but I can't figure it out

Debian and many current distributions recognize what used to be /dev/hdX as /dev/sdX. I think it's a kernel thing, but I'm not sure.

Run dmesg in a terminal to find out how your computer is seeing your extra drive. Say it's seen as /dev/sdX, where X=the drive letter.

Try creating /mnt/[some_mountpoint_or_other], followed by mount /dev/sdX /mnt/[some_mountpoint_or_other]. I'm betting that, if you can get the drive mounted, you will still be able to see the partitions.
