Question Can't get 3D graphics working under (K)ubuntu

I installed Ubuntu, then switched to Kubuntu. I can't get the fancy 3D graphics working in either environment. I have a Radeon HD 4670 graphics card.

What can I do to fix this?

Did you install the proprietary drivers for your card?

And question. What are you trying to use to get the 3D graphics? Ubuntu(Gnome) would need compiz to get the 3D graphical items working. On KDE 4.x it comes with a 3D environment, but you can still use compiz if you wish, but ether one you would have to configure. Also yes do you have the proprietary drivers set up? That would cause a huge difference.

Question I found the driver but my computer hasn't found the command (?)

The card didn't come with a CD so I didn't even think about needing proprietary drivers.

::runs off::

Thre, I downloaded the driver (ati-driver-installer-9-10-x86.x86_64.run) and tried to execute it but it output "ati-driver-installer-9-10-x86.x86_64.run: command not found". Is there something I'm missing?

You need to make it executable first try:

Code:
# chmod +x ati-driver-installer-9-10-x86.x86_64.run
# sh ./ati-driver-installer-9-10-x86.x86_64.run
See if that helps

In Ubuntu you will need to install compizconfig-settings-manager to enable the compiz settings and all the effects.

Just use jockey-kde to enable the needed restricted driver.

I made it executable via the properties window.

I tried that and clicked the activate button. The driver listed gets grayed out, but doesn't activate.
