Question can't mount filesystem -errors

mount shows
wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on ...........
missing codepage or other error.

This is not an nfs mount; any ideas; fsck does not like the magic number in the superblock.

Welcome to LQ.

Much more information is needed. For starters:

Is this a boot or root or home partition or something else?

Is it on the local computer, an external device (if so, what type?), or over the network?

Is it in /etc/fstab or is it plug-and-play? If it's in fstab, what is the relevant entry in that file?

What does fdisk -l report about the partition?

Did it ever work, then break, or has it never worked?

What distro/version of Linux?

So that you can post questions in such a way as to help us help you, check out the guidelines for asking questions. http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/...Ask_a_Question
