can't get my laptop to restart with a static IP address with Fedora 7

I have modified the network files ifcfg-eth0 and network so that I can have a static ip, but everytime I restart the pc, it comes up with a dynamic IP that it takes from a DHCP server deleting all the configuration previously built in my file ifcfg-eth0.

I changed the names of the files /sbin/dhclient and dhclient-scripts but it still comes up with the dynamic IP.

This is the configuration I built in the ifcfg-eth0 file.

[root@george network-scripts]# more ifcfg-eth0
# nVidia Corporation Unknown device 054c
DEVICE=eth0
ONBOOT=yes
IPADDR=192.168.1.90
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
BOOTPROTO=static
NETWORK=192.168.1.0
BROADCAST=192.168.1.255
HWADDR=00:00:6c:60:79:fb
[root@george network-scripts]#
[root@george network-scripts]# more ../network
NETWORKING=yes
HOSTNAME=george.labs.per
DOMAINNAME=labs.per
GATEWAY=192.168.1.254
[root@george network-scripts]#

This is the configuration it takes after restarting the PC
[root@george network-scripts]# more ifcfg-eth0
# nVidia Corporation Unknown device 054c
DEVICE=eth0
ONBOOT=yes
BOOTPROTO=dhcp
HWADDR=00:00:6c:04:a4:fd

What is even weirder is that it takes an ipv6 IP and the MAC Address changes with every reboot.

[root@george network-scripts]# ifconfig eth0
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:00:6C:04:A4:FD
inet6 addr: fe80::200:6cff:fe04:a4fd/64 Scope:Link
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:847 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:435 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:211483 (206.5 KiB) TX bytes:74877 (73.1 KiB)
Interrupt:22 Base address:0xe000

I don't know what to do. I can use some help here. Thanks a lot!
