Hello all,

I recently went from fedora core to Mandrake. In Fedora, the following worked just fine. However, Ican't seem to get it to work now in Mandrake. I know it likely has nothing to do with the Distro, and rather has to do with something I do or do not have installed or running. Can somebody point me in the right direction please? Here's what it is...

Running Apache, and in my links.html page I have the following lines:

<!--#config timefmt="%A %B %d, %Y" -->
This page last modified <!--#flastmod file="links.html" -->

THis used to then print on the page the time the page was last saved. Now, it shows nothing but the "This page last modified"

I have set the permissions on both the /var/www/html directory AND the page itself to 775, and even tried 777 just to see. Neither worked.

What am I missing?

Also, where did webalizer go? It was installed and running by default in Fedora, but doesn't even seem to be installed in Mandrake. Do I need to download and install this? I still have the directory and files that were created in Fedora, but they have not gotten updated by webalizer since the distro switch. WIll there be anything special I'll need to know to get it working once it's installed? I ask because I didn't havev to do ANYTHING to it in fedora. Heck, I didn'nt even know it was there until I happened across the directory once and saw all the usage stats and everything were already there and being updated regularily.

Okay, lack of responses forced me to help myself. The leasat I can do is answer my own question to help those who may find this post when searching...

To get the #flastmod to work, SSI (Server Side Includes) had to be enabled (THANKS to David Ross in an old post). In Mandrake, this was done by adding +Includes to the Options section of /etc/httpd/conf/commonhttpd.conf. Here is a snippet of the area this was added...


#This should be changed to whatever you set DocumentRoot to.
<Directory /var/www/html>
Options -Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews +Includes

<Location /index.html>
Options +Includes
</Location>


Now, perhaps that was redundant, and I only needed the top portion, but I'm not sure. All I know is it didn't work until I added the +Includes to the 3rd line from above code. Then, restarted http and it worked fine on all pages. Woohoo!

For the latter part of my post, the Webalizer install went smoothly (was lacking one lib package, got it just fine and continued on) and the configuration wasn't too terrible. I managed to trash all of my old files though, so the usage stats from my previous server got overwritten. Bummer, but oh well.

Hope this manages to help somebody in the future...
