Brother DCP-7055W printer doesn't work in Linux after installing dualboot Linux-Windo

Under WindowsXP my Brother printer/scanner worked fine, but after installing the dualboot with Linux Mint Mate15 my Brother network printer doesn't work anymore. I also have a HP Photosmart D7160, which is cable-connected to my PC (the Brother is only connected to the router), which still ever works.
When calling Brother Customer Support they told me only to support Debian and RPM Package manager, but that they didn't have a solution. The guy thought to know that people sometimes had been able to make a work-out, but he didn't know anything of that.

I now installed with Package manager:
- Common files for Brother cups wrapper packages and brother-lpr-drivers
- brother-lpr-drivers-mfc9420cn and brother-cups-wrapper-mfc9420c
But this gave no solution.

I don't know if another thread gave a solution, but that was far too technical for me.

=> Does anyone maybe know how I could find a solution? I can hardly believe that Brother could not run under Linux.

I have to admit, I'm no expert at getting printers to work under Linux. But that sounds to me like a driver issue for sure. Maybe try following the instructions on this page? http://welcome.solutions.brother.com....html#cwi_img2
You should follow the dpkg instructions. Let me know how it goes.

I've been using Brother printers for years and years with no problems whatsoever. I am currently using a Brother HL-2130 laser printer. Did you install your printer via cups? Can you tell us your step-by-step procedure for installing it? I assume you used the http://localhost:631/ interface for the installation. Is that correct? The more information you can give about your installation procedure, the easier it will be to diagnose your problem.

Brother DCP-7055W doesn't work in Linux

Thanks for your reactions, but sorry, I didn't respond earlier since I was too busy with oter things and today I drowned in problems with Thunderbird mailing resulting in my mail out of order in addition to my Brother. That feels rather hopeless at this moment after endeavouring to switch from Windows to Linux.

I didn't use the http://localhost:631/ facility since they made a distinction between a USB installation and a wireless installation, which latter they advised and which worked perfectly in my installation under Windows a couple of months ago. Would that USB facility be necessary or maybe better for Linux?
And Redd9, all those scripts frighten me a little bit because I don't understand those commands.

I add my printer settings and an error log resulting from the trouble shooting procedure. That is, however, far too technical for me to understand.
=> Does that give you a clue, jdKay and/or Redd9?

You have a Brother DCP-7055W printer, so install the correct drivers for your model. http://welcome.solutions.brother.com...html#DCP-7055W
