Hi, I'm trying to install Red Hat 9 on my computer running WinXP Pro SP2. When I look at the partitions, it recognizes that one of them is a "Win 95 FAT", however when I get to the boot loader configuration, the Windows install isn't showing up.
(From what I've read, it's supposed to.)
Has anyone else had this problem?
Also, I have a laptop with no floppy disk drive, so using a bootable floppy is out of the question.
You said win 95 fat while Winxp should have NTFS as file system
a little bit strange
Not necessary, XP can be installed in FAT32 partition.

Thanks!
Red Hat Linux 9 is obsolete. If you want to use Red Hat based distro then try Fedora or CentOS.
Thanks for all of your input! I'm downloading CentOS right now, interested to see how that works/looks/runs. I'm glad to know that there's an active community behind these projects; I'm hoping to learn Linux as well as I know Windows. Thanks again!
I do know it can be install on fat 32 but at the same the stability reduce
a lot.
all the best
I am running xp on a fat32 partition from past 4 years without a single formatting. No unstability issue is noticed. It depends how you maintain your system.
Why is that so many people start out with RH 9 or RH 7.3?, it puzzles the mind
I ended up getting the Bible for Red Hat 9 from a friend, and it came with the 3 CD set. Having a slow internet connection, it was just easier for me to use that.
