Hello all,
I have a Realtek WN511b wireless card with a BM4321 chip.
It runs on the wl driver but when I boot the system the card won't install.
With help (I am noob) we have figured out that the ssb and the b43 drivers are installing even though I have them blacklisted. I have seen similar problems described elsewhere but no real fixes.
I can boot the system (Dell d630) then pop the card out and re-insert, enter password and it connects no problem.
It would be nice if it simply installed on boot.
Wondering if anyone had a solution?

Don't unplug/replug the card, just boot up with the card plugged in.

I blacklisted the Intel on board wireless after I copied this.

Are you still having the same problem now that the Intel is blacklisted? I don't see the ssb or b43 modules loaded so the blacklist is configured properly and working.

Yeah, it still only loads the card when I pull and re-insert.

I was told that to fix it beyond where it is would require more effort oneach boot than it was worth. A little "over my head" since these obvious blacklist fixes aren't working.

Yeah, it still requires re-inserting the card to get it to connect each time. I was looking for a setting that might allow the system to find the card on boot, I guess if I want that, it will have to be the Intel at 54mbps.

What does dmesg say about the device at boot time? Are there any clues at /var/log/messages?

Sorry, the $ sign signifies you are logged in as a normal user and the # sign signifies you are logged in as root or su and is not part of the command. Mint is Debian based so try sudo.

Don't type the $, remember that just tells you you're not root or su.
