Acrobat Reader, Firefox, Man9.2 & i'm almost there

Hello Hello.

Trying to get acrobat reader up and running... i've just about got it...
Using Firefox .9 on Mandrake 9.2 - Been using linux for aprox 1 week.

Part 1
Downloaded linux-509.tar.gz
untared and run to default -> /usr/local/Acrobat5

-Can now open saved PDF's fine.

Part 2 -get firefox to auto open them
-Read up at linuxquestions.org

-Created soft link:
ln -s /usr/local/Acrobat5/Browsers/intellinux/nppdf.so /usr/firefox/plugins
(I l8ter killed this ln and cp'ed it there in case this causing the prob.)

-Created soft link
ln -s /usr/local/Acrobat5/bin/acrobat /usr/bin/acrobat

All Seamed good

Problem
I clicked on a few pdf's (hp's printer data sheets)...
It asks me if I want to save of open via app.
I choose "Open with: acroread"
Says it's transfering data in the status bar...
nothing ever happens?

think I'm just missing that one step.....
PDF are opening within Konqueror.

Only other item I can find speaks of the below error...but seeing as I have not gotten
this error...I have not tried the advice to fix it...
"Warning: charset "UTF-8" not supported........
aborted"

Heheheh... In Windoze in a case like this one would say "let's try rebooting"... In GNU/Linux it's more appropriate to say "let's restart the app..."
