I am working on Embedded Board, which has 2 Ethernet Ports eth0/1 which claims the speed of 10/100Mbps.
Now I need to confirm the speed,What are test methods ?
the simple way is to simply connect either of these ports to another device, like a switch or a PC, that indicates the link speed by LEDs of different color (many do that).
But I'm afraid that's not very meaningful: Even though the NIC may be establishing a 100Mbit link, it doesn't necessarily mean the host system can handle packets so quickly as to make use of the possible transfer rate. But that's something you just have to try in real operation, as it depends on many factors.
# iperf -s -f m
------------------------------------------------------------
Server listening on TCP port 5001
TCP window size: 0.08 MByte (default)

[ 4] local 192.168.82.111 port 5001 connected with 192.168.82.139 port 59473
[ ID] Interval Transfer Bandwidth
[ 4] 0.0-14.7 sec 1.00 MBytes 0.57 Mbits/sec
What i understand is speed is 0.57 Mbps,If so then this is not expected?
