I am running SuSe 9.1 on my p4 laptop. I have a agere system wireless card that has the drivers loaded.
I am having trouble switching from Ethernet to Wireless. iwconfig doesn't seem to suport my wireless card, so i use YaST to change my wireless settings. The problem is, after i make a wireless network change with YaST, i can never seem to get it to take affect without bringing down both connections, and then just starting the wireless... I want to know why using /etc/init.d/network restart will pull a wireless IP address, but after doing so will leave me unable to connect over wireless. (but not ethernet if it was connected)
here is the output from /etc/init.d/network restart with ethernet disconnected and wireless ready to go:
Code:
FBI:/home/exabrial # /etc/init.d/network restart
Shutting down network interfaces:

Hint: you may set mandatory devices in /etc/sysconfig/network/config
Setting up network interfaces:

Setting up service network . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . done
then, to finally connect the damn thing over wireless, I must
ifdown eth1
ifdown eth0
ifup eth1
Then it finds an IP and everything is peachy. But why won't it work the first time???
Thank you! -Jonathan
