I'm glad we agree on it now, I was trying to figure out how I can test it.

I had a bridge going for a while when I had a 1000' of cat 5 strung out, but I didn't really need it anymore. The 2.6 kernel looks like it's got some neet bridging stuff.

It's got some bridged firewall tools like BRIDGE_NETFILTER and ebtables.
