Hi, I have a conexant modem as well, and I just downloaded the newest one from the site that hosts the drivers for linux. Do a google for "linux conexant modem driver". Try to find a package that matches your distribution. If you cant find one that matches your distro, you can use the tarball and configure it yourself.. Im not sure how to do this on a non-rpm based distro, but you'd probably have to compile it, install it, then do a hcfpciconfig as root. I had to do this once when Mandrake 9.1 came out before the new packages were released. Also search this forum. I know of at least once that this issue has been addressed.
Also, since youre new you may not be aware of this, but always search for answers first, then if you dont find anything, be sure to include your distribution name and other relevant information. I've found that most linux users are very helpful, but they do get tired of answering the same questions over and over. There's an faq somewhere on the web, that gives instruction on the "right" way to ask questions on forums and in newsgroups. Good Luck..
