So now I have a task for such a device and I start following the links.

I'm claiming the very high ratio of "linux device" press releases to "buy open linux device now" pages is getting pretty silly. If you think it's a rant deserving no reply, try prove me wrong.

I dearly love to be proven wrong. I've spent night after night, credit card in hand, digging the net getting more and more frustrated.

It's a frustrated plea, not flamebait.

I have literally followed about a hundred links off the various sites like slashdot and linuxdevices announcing interesting new linux based devices, hoping to actually buy one.

But maybe 1 in 20 turned up a real device I could consider buying (and those not nearly as juicy as those promised in the other 19 links).

So perhaps I asked in a less than elegant fashion, lack of sleep from several extremely frustrating nights trawling the through marketing drivel to find rare hard tech specs and prices is getting to me.

But it is an honest Linux Question nonetheless.

What mobile _open_ linux devices can I actually buy now? Can people give me hard links to "buy open linux device now" pages, not vapourous "coming soon" press releases.

I'd say this thread has started on the wrong foot.....
