Online linux laptop shops?

Hi, have people any recommendations of online stores to purchase a laptop (preferably pre-installed with linux or with no O.S.) that ship to the states? I'm based in Europe so am only familiar with european companies (every single one of which ships with windows only except for Dell but I consider them just as evil).

Thanks Guys.

Hope this isn't against the rules, moderators?

Santa Barbara, CA is where in Europe??.......

Why is Dell evil?

I have no direct knowledge, but the ones most advertised are Emperor and R-Cubed. HP has some models available with no OS.

If you want a "netbook" with Linux, they're all over the place: Amazon, Target, probably many others.

Heh yeah, that's a little out of date Ok, so they're not evil per say. I just don't like the monopoly they have. Not sure if it's the same in the states but over here they have more than their fair share of the market for providing a mediocre product. I am interested in getting a HP. Thanks for the advise. Lines still open for more suggestions.

Dell has a monopoly??? I don't think so. Microsoft has a "de-facto" monopoly, but it would be pretty hard for any HW vendor to get a monopoly position anywhere.

my experience is dell is kinda' crappy. my dell poweredge server i bought a few years ago i found out is the same mobo, ... as a dell dimension with the front bezel that covers the front usb/ headphone/ mic jacks (i had to break it off in order to use them).

why is dell re-packaging old desktops and selling them as file-storage and print servers ? seems kinda' bootleg.

Yeah, Dell kinda sucks, but I can tell you it's better than Compaq any day. Probably nearly anything is better than Compaq. Really for laptops, I would look for an independent company that sells them.

For example, if I buy a laptop, I would get it from here:
http://www.xtremenotebooks.com/

The OS is optional, which is great, no M$, just install Linux or BSD. For laptops at least it seems good. I would build my own desktop (and I did).
