pullinig psu switch = usb behaving strangely > switching port sides
These are two related problems. A while ago the on/off switch on the front of my box quit working the way it's supposed to. Instead of turning of the box when pressed after system halt, it reboots. If it had been just that, it wouldn't have meant much, but it also wipes the cmos and I can't even enter the bios setup, it just locks. I have to pull out the mobo battery to reset the bios to the defaults. Then I can do an ordinary boot. Damn irritating, because it takes five minutes to pull the cables, opening the box, pulling the battery, putting it back, closing the box and putting the cables back... It doesn't wipe the cmos if I use the switch on the psu though. This is where headache two comes in.
I have two usb ports. Every time I power off using the psu switch, the computer seem to "switch" places on the USB ports when I boot again. Therefore the mouse isn't detected until I connect the mouse to the other port. Am I the only one who's experienced this problem? Can it be fixed? It's quite irritating having to crawl under the desk every morning when I boot the computer.
I'm using Slack 10 on a P4 box with a Gigabyte mobo.
