MainConcept Capture program has a video compression option but their is not sound Compression option , it sounds like a fun idea to capture with linux but its really lacking things like Divx and sound compressions formats why? I have a capture card & VCR etc.. set up , I can capture ok in windows with WMV 9 and Divx 5 but I would like to play these in linux and maybe try capturing them in linux too but theirs no real good program in linux to do so as far as I know does anyone know of a good capture program for Suse 8.2 linux , that works good in both video compressioning formats and sound compressioning formats , I don't really care if their compable with windows or not , just as long as their better than the windows ones, why do they offer DVD-R buring option in Suse 8.2 when theirs no DVD video capture compressions? Why do they say on the box that it has DVD-R burning option when it does not come with any good DVD video burner for linux , just data format which most people don't use anyway for a DVD-R. most people that say burn a DVD-R they use windows and burn DVD videos with it not data cds with a DVD-R those things are not cheap anyway, I think its kind of false advertiesing for them to say on the Suse 8.2 box about video capturing and DVD burning , when their video and dvd burning software is no way as good as the windows vidoeo capturer programs like virtualdub , know that one would be a good one to port to linux if someone could , video capturing would be a lot easyer if someone ported virtualdub to linux, or well like thats going to happen I guess I still will have to use windows to do my video capturing because no audio compression in linux capture programs and no good export of Divx for Linux, I did see the divx linux version from
www.divx.com I think theirs no way to compile it to work under linux. its really uncompete or something because its not a easy tar.gz type comping program , know if Divx compression file was a program were I could use ./configure ; make ; make install I would have no problems getting it on my linux but since the linux version of Divx , its so weird to compiile & install it , I am not really sure how to compile the divx linux verion , anyone have any ideas on how to get Divx format and other compressions formats under linux anyway like wmv9 in linux? wmv 9 is a microsoft video format from their media 9 video player but its impossle to play or capture in linux with wmv filees under linux. I think theirs a divx player for linux but I don't know how to install their divx codec in linux anyway
