live desktop log file tail'ing

Just installed a clean linux mint and starting to tweak to my liking. I saw somewhere some cool themes, and better than that, I saw what looked like an active desktop tailing some log files. I looked around and can't find, I remember it was a gnome desktop and it was all black/blue.

Naturally I can find some themes, open a shell, tail, but thought as a sysadmin, that would be a cool feature!

Tnx

I'm using KDE 4.8.3. There's a widget called "File Watcher" which does what you describe. I just set it to /var/log/auth.log and /var/log/dmesg (on Kubuntu 12.04).
