Long delay after clicking on Gnome Icon

FC4 Install from the DUKE DVD (as upgrade to FC3). I am new to Linux. Currently my installs are vanilla.

There is a delay of 10 or so seconds until any selected menu displays. At first thought that GNOME 2.10 was doing some weird menu computation. However, I didn't see this on other systems such as Knoppix (Boot from CD) release, and therefore ask if this is just a bug waiting to be fixed.

Is it after first boot? I have a slight (2 sec) delay when clicking on menu items after the first boot. After it's smooth sailing. Have you checked bugzilla? What kind of hardware are you on?
