Question DLink DWL-G510 on AMD64

I just installed SuSE 9.2 PRO (64 bit) on my machine. All seems to work fine except the wireless card (a DLink DWL-G510). DLink does not offer a Linux driver for this card. I can't use their XP driver because it is 32-bit and NDISWrapper only works for 32-bit drivers anyway. I looked at DriverLoader because it now has 64-bit support, but DLink does not have any 64-bit drivers available either. I tried researching this everywhere, but can't find a solution outside of perhaps reinstalling the i586 version of 9.2 PRO. If this is the only solution, (I hope it's not) then how do I do it? When I first installed it, I don't recall being given the option of installing the 32 or 64-bit versions. This is my first foray into the linux world, so please bear that in mind when responding.

According to this webpage, porting ndiswrapper to 64 bit is a work in progress.
From the webpage:
Quote:
Only 64 bits NDIS drivers can be used. NDIS drivers made for Windows 2000/XP/2003 won't work. Only those built for Windows XP64 should (eventually) work.

Is there maybe some other way to make this work, or do I have to reinstall Linux using the i586 version? If so, how do I ensure the installation DVD doesn't automatically select the 64-bit version?

First of all, you want to use the 'lsmod' command to determine the controller chip that the device uses. Try to google for a driver that handles the controller. It may still be a waiting game. I think that many manufacturers are still writing their 64 bit driver versions for windows. Perhaps you could write an e-mail to the companies support to be able to get a release date for a linux or windows XP64 driver.

I have SuSE 9.1, which has 32 bit installation on one side of a dvd disk and 64 bit installation on the other. If that isn't the case with SuSE 9.2, then there may be a README file on the disk with the answer.

One SuSE 9.1, the CD's contain the 32 bit version. If that is the case with SuSE 9.2, then you could simply install from the CD's rather then the DVD.

I tried reinstalling from the DVD. I found that if you press the F7 key on the first screen that appears, you can toggle between the 32 and 64-bit installations. After that, NDISWrapper and the windows XP driver worked fine.
