ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

Hi,
I am trying to login to mysql using following command:

mysql -u root -p

and when I enter password i receive following error:

ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

I am using OpenSuse and everything was working properly until I tried to connect to my database using PHP. I also have created a database using phpmyadmin and changed the setting so that I don't need to log in each time.

Any idea?

Try without a password if you never set one to begin with..

$ mysql
