This is a sad day for the UK. The wish for the exit crowd seems to be wanting the UK to be the way is was 43 years ago. That will not happen, they will wind up with something different. For the good or bad, only time will tell.

Scotland may well separate now. How is that better? Will Northern Ireland follow? Who knows.

The immediate market reactions will settle down. Money will go where more can be made. So, don't panic in the short term.

Just buy a few £K today and sit on it a few days!

I think this is true democracy in action. The government asked the people, and they have decided. Someone keeps saying how the US has the best democracy in the world....My ass. No matter if there is a referendum in the US, the will of the people will be overridden by those in power, by their corporate masters.

This does have clear implications though:

• Scotland will leave the UK because they do want to stay in the EU

• Ireland wants to stay in the EU, so there is also a real possibility that Ireland and N. Ireland might reunite could be on the table in the future.

• Wales might also decide to leave the UK, thus at this point the UK is no more and it is just England by herself.

• Due to all the special rules that the UK demanded to the rest of the EU to stay, they will probably have to pay back whatever special status/favors they got from Brussels.

• Obviously other countries now will also have a referendum thus further splitting and even dissolving the EU itself.

• The US will have less influence by proxy through Brussels (this is a good thing actually).

• You will now see other separatist movements probably gain more steam if Scotland does declare independence. Wales as mentioned earlier, Basques in Spain just to name a few.

• There is a very real possibility that the Schengen Treaty could also be in question (if it is not already), due to the possibility of other countries now having their own referendum.

Of course he did. He is playing both sides.

On one side, he is telling the UK to stay in the EU. He knows the EU isn't designed to work so he will sell the Pound and the Euro short and on margin, for his profit while others are miserable.

He is a cunning, vicious man.

He broke the Bank of Britain back in 1992 and will do it again. We continue to ignore history again and again.

My friend at work was talking, we weren't sure the the controversy with Nigel Farge saying that he can't promise the 350 million pounds that was going to the EU weekly won't be used to fund the NHS. Which was a campaign promise.

Soros doesn't give two sh*ts, and will play both sides to his advantage. A man like that is clear poison and I open advocate for an accident to happen to him........Just saying.

The 350M figure is skewed, while that may be the "headline" figure that gets paid over the UK receives more than that back in terms of subsidies etc. So this mythical 350M isn't all of a sudden "free money". Farage is also a "Trump Level" liar when it comes to denying things he said, even in the face of documentary evidence.

I'm thinking of looking in to my eligibility for an IE passport now.

It needs to be remembered that the vote for Brexit wasn't by any means a landslide victory. It was enough to be without doubt, but nearly half of the voters will be very disappointed people in the UK today. Why was there only 72% turnout? Were the balance 'don't knows' so didn't vote?
The £ has taken a huge slump today, predictably, but I think that the future looks very bleak. I'd like to be proved wrong, but I can see inflation shooting up and the unemployed numbers rising as European businesses leave the UK. The well-heeled will 'weather the storm', but the poorest off will find it even more difficult to get by.
What happened? How did we get from the Common Market, a good principle, to being governed by unelected bureaucrats in Brussels with precious little say or choice allowed to our own elected government?
