When a company or industry is facing changes to its business due to technology, it will argue against the need for change based on the moral importance of its work, rather than trying to understand the social underpinnings.
Actually, the music and movie industry do use what they consider a "moral" argument. They just call it something else: "intellectual property," which implies that obtaining it without paying the tariff is theft.
It may be "property," but, in most cases, it most certainly is not "intellectual."
