The sound stops working after the make clean command


i've tried uninstalling the audacity software and tried make clean command
after this, the sound don't work. im using fedora 12

help me figure out please.

Since nobody has answered, I thought I'd offer a few thoughts.

Firstly, it's not really clear what's happened to you. At what stage did the sound disappear? After installing F12, after installing Audacity, after removing Audacity, after "yum clean" (I assume you meant that, rather than "make clean") ?

Run gnome-sound-properties from the command line and see if the test fails, and if it leaves an error message on quitting.

Make sure that no plugs have come loose (yes, really!)

Finally, post again in the hardware section, with full clear details.

It could just be that your sound chip has died. This happened to me once, and I bought a cheap second-hand sound card. A local computer repair shop could diagnose the problem by plugging in a card and seeing if it restored the sound, but their charge would be more than the replacement card.
