I'm sorry to have to ask this, but I really need help with the new user interface I found when I replaced Fedora 13 with Fedora 16. Now I can't figure how to add a printer or add a multi-workspace switch to the status/launch icon bar, etc. In fact, I like my status/launch bar to be at the bottom of the screen & I can't find any way to move it.
Which desktop environment (DE) are you using? (Gnome, KDE, Xfce, etc)
Each of the DE's has extensive documentation and tutorials on their respective home pages...

That's a good question. I do see how to tell which desktop it is. It's completely different from my old Gnome desktop in FC13. This is crazy. I'm sorry, but I'm getting frustrated. I'll check the webpages as you suggest & see if I can figure it out. Thanks for your reply & suggestion.
If you were using Gnome in Fedora 13 then you are probably still using Gnome in Fedora 16 (unless you deliberately changed to something different).
Gnome recently underwent a major change from Gnome 2 to Gnome 3. There are literally thousands of posts and tutorials on Gnome 3, unfortunately since I am not personally a Gnome 3 user, I do not know the answer to your printing and workspace questions, but I'm sure another member who does use Gnome 3 will be along shortly to help.
If you are looking for a Fedora-like distro that's sticking with the outdated Gnome 2 for a while, then I recommend Fuduntu: http://www.fuduntu.org/ or CentOS: http://www.centos.org/

Thanks for that last post. Yep, the new GUI must be Gnome 3. Anyway, I thought the problem may be that I'm not logged in as root so I'm not even given the chance to configure the printer or change the desktop. But, when I logoff, I can't even login as root, although, when I'm a regular user, I can easily su to root status. Now I am confused. I hope someone comes along that has worked with Gome 3 before. The other thing I might try is using a command line command to at least set up the printer (for now). Like I said earlier, this is crazy. Incidentally, the Gnome 3 user or admin docs (on the Gnome webpage) say nothing about configuring a printer.
