I've ran Slackware for a while. Not consistantly, but whenever I had some free time I'd boot into it for a couple weeks. Most of my school work required programs that were more easily accessible through Windows.
With this new AMD64 though, I'm going to be joining the Fedora Community. I haven't started the install yet, since the CDs are so big. Before I jumped in though, I wanted to ask a couple questions.
I'm used to the way stuff was organized on Slackware. I liked the fact that all the start-up scripts were in one folder, and how each run-level was organized. In Slackware, everything was in /etc/rc.d/. Where are those stored in Fedora Core 3?
A couple other parallels, if you could be so kind:
Slackware
/etc/joe/joerc
/etc/X11/xorg.conf
/usr/bin
Final question is: Where can I get some technical documentation on Fedora Core. I'm searching everywhere, but all I can find on the CDs and website are FAQs and random readmes. I'm looking for something that breaks down the bootstrap process, shows where configuration files are (as asked above), etc.
Thanks for any responses, and a pre-gratitude for future questions I'll be asking
