So let me get this straight: the main problems are: 1.) wireless isn't working 2.) resolution/display issues and 3.) DVD playback problems?
Should I stick to Ubuntu 5.10, which is working perfectly, or should I upgrade to FC5? P.S. Apparently the suspend problem is a well-known hardware problem with the Inspiron 6000 but afaik it hasn't been addressed by Dell. It happens to me in both Linux and Windows so I just disabled the suspending. |
to vincebs:
1. wireless works fine, just use drivers and firmware from ipw2200 on sourcreforge 2. no probs at all with video in my case. i have ATI X300/1680x1050. But I had to install drivers manually in order to get OpenGL acceleration 3. DVS playback/record is very slow. The reason is that kernel does not support DMA for DVD drive. However, you can find a patch that fixes this problem, but you'll have to recompile the kernel 4. Suspend works fine :) se previous posts |
