Booting dragora from CD with default root=/dev/sda1

On boot up using default sets root=/dev/sda1

I have Windows 7 on sda1. Will using the /dev/sda1 default cause any problems with the Windows 7 installation?

Kind of hard to say. It could be possible that /dev/sda1 is a way that the live cd uses to mount the fuse or aufs type filesystem.

Live cd's use tricks to get past some limits. I don't see any problem if it did somehow use windows. It just wouldn't boot.

if i understood well you want to install Dragora and windows as dual-boot.

In my opinion the most easy think that you can do is to install windows and after that you can create a live usb/cd with a distribution which has gparted software as pre-loaded(eg.Ubuntu).So you can create the exact partitions which you will use to install the Dragora.

See here how to install Dragora as geodoo said. Pay attention to use the right partitions during Dragora installation!!!

Have you tried to set a different value for "root=" from the boot prompt?.

Yes. Hard drive already partitioned with sda1 = Windows 7; sda5 = linux-swap; sda6 = Ubuntu XFCE; sda7 = unused; sda8 = /home

Tried "root = /dev/sda7". Did not try installing as was not sure what was happening and did not want to over write anything.

It is not installed yet. I want to install it on the sda7 partition

At this time you have a partition(sda7).I think you should just follow this guide and make changes only in sda7 partition.

Do not forget. you don't need to install grub or lilo!!!
