Just to double check with this before I go and destroy a perfectly good setup..
I have Debian Etch currently installed with all the updates from apt as of last night. I have downgraded my kernel from the default 2.6.18 that comes with Etch but compiling my own custom 2.6.17.8 kernel. I used the following commands to build and install my kernel:
Code:
# cd /usr/src/linux
# make manuconfig
# fakeroot make-kpkg --initrd --revision=custom1.0 kernel_image
# dpkg -i ../linux-image[blah blah].deb
My kernel is up and running fine, and I choose to have the 3 boot images (from make menuconfig - in graphics support - all it does is put up the little peguin at the top of the screen during the boot process while in a framebuffer, much like Knoppix has). I never actually choose any real bootsplash options in the kernel.
I know bootsplash is installed from apt, I can do that tonight, but before I do I just want to double check that I'm not overlooking something vital seeing as I just had this idea like 15 minutes ago to install a bootsplash image.
Any advice I should consider before I continue?
