apps don't run in blackbox over xdmcp

I usually use xfce over xdmcp (connecting from Slackware 14.0 to Debian Wheezy), but when I tried blackbox, no apps opened. I couldn't even open a terminal to see what the problem was. I'm right clicking on the desktop to bring up the menu, and left-clicking on what I'd like to execute.

I logged in locally, and didn't have the problem.

This probably means that the mouse clicks aren't passed correctly to the blackbox instance..
Is there any reason why you are not using SSH which is more secure and also supports graphics?
Code:
$ ssh -X user$othermachine
will open a graphical session of the other machine.

I thought ssh runs slower, and I'm not concerned about a secure connection because I only run it over my LAN at home.

Not really. It can be slow to launch things like Firefox, but these are normally slow locally as well. I.e. it's not the graphics making them slow.

Give it a try!
I started using it for real last year and now I can't live without it. Setting up ssh keys so you don't have to type the password makes it seamless.

Sounds reasonable. I will try it.
