Installing Adobe Flash Player on Linux/Debian Lenny
After installing a fresh install of Linux/Debian Lenny, and attempting to access the web with Ice Weasel, you soon discover you cannot play videos without installing Adobe Flash Player. As it turns out, this is a simple process. First, you go to Adobe's website, www.adobe.com, and download the latest version of Flash Player for linux. Then, untar the file to a selected location. Next, copy the .so file to the following folder: usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/
That is it! The next time you open Ice Weasel, you will be able to view videos.

You do know that Lenny is now old stable, don't you? For stable, you want Debian 6 (Squeeze).
Aside from that, the other way if going about it is to install a Debian based and compatible system that includes Flash & various other multimedia related 'stuff' that vanilla Debian doesn't. Mepis and LMDE spring to mind...Posted 02-15-2011 at 05:10 AM by rich_c
