Enhancements to the point of non-usability

Thanks for the opportunity to express some thoughts.
I am a structural engineer in the precast concrete field.
I have been using and writing computer programs since 1970.
I have been using Kubuntu for my Qt programing.
When I upgraded to Kubuntu 8.10 from my Kubuntu 8.04, I was shocked at the complexity of the enhancements. (KDE 3 to KDE 4).
I switched to Ubuntu 8.10 and was pleasantly surprised. I could use it out of the box!
The point of all this for people writing programs, The people who are going to use your programs don't know as much about them as you do.

I might add that I needed help to install Trolltech's Qt-4, which I got from "samji" in a Qt forum responce to my post.
