I used NEdit for most of 10 years, until the clipboard lock problem (disables copy/paste) became so pervasive that it became almost useless. I suspect the problem was related to leaving unsaved changes sitting around for a long time, but that is unconfirmed. The only repeatable solution I ever found was to close all running instances of NEdit and restart them. Too much of a hassle.
I always liked Nedit because it was simple to do everything I needed (mostly coding fortran and manipulating data files).
