divyashree 01-10-2013 09:40 PM

I use mplayer to play audio in command line, but it's not in the list.

1+ for that! MPlayer right from the terminal is all you really need.
If you need a GUI, XMMS on Slackware is just fine for me.
I like the light and simple audio players like MPlayer, XMMS, Audacious, Aqualung and Deadbeef.

Does anyone know if Aqualung is still being maintained? The most recent "news" on the Aqualung website is from 01-31-2010:

Clementine and VLC

wolfperkins 01-15-2013 07:05 AM

I voted for xmms2 but also started to use VLC recently.

borgic 01-15-2013 09:48 AM

VLC

truecipher 01-15-2013 10:37 AM

VLC?

How could you leave VLC off the list?

jeremy 01-15-2013 10:39 AM

VLC has been added.

I am another mpd/ncmpcpp user. Though I find plain old mpc ultra convenient for scripting.

I still keep deadbeef on my machine in case someone with a fear of the CLI uses my machine...

Thank you!

TY

I still like Clementine I just never use it. VLC is lightweight and loads\runs faster (plus from a recent list that is awesome).

Hard to decide between Amarok and Clementine, but I'm going for Clementine this time.
