Graphics Application of the Year

Yes, we know many of these apps are not directly comparable.

Yeah, well, since I know GIMP is gonna win anyway, I vote for inkscape.

Inkscape should do; it's a better application, imho.

GIMP. I would have voted Inkscape except that it (and many other vector graphics apps) suffers from sloooow rendering (it starts to lag if I'm drawing/resizing a simple rectangle about 1" or bigger on my screen). It's clearly not optimized (I'm sure those of you who like it are on nice fancy Core 2 Duo systems (or the AMD equivalent). Remember that not everyone has such high specs!).

Inkscape is very nice. Gimp finally became 'non-painful' in 2009, but Inkscape is so nice to use (though obviously they aren't direct competitors)

MyPaint would be my choice, but since they have not released even 1.0 I suppose that is the reason why it is not on the list. But even the dev version that I have, I would have voted for it.

Until recently, I was a Krita enthusiast, but the Koffice2 interface repels me. So my vote goes to GIMP this time.

Of course Blender. It is now in the PRO/Cinema category and nothing else can't beat that.
