jwm
still can't beat jwm

Bling is alright for show, but good 'ol Metacity gets things done.

Xfwm4. I also like JWM, for lighter distributions.

Nice to see OpenBOX gaining some attention. I guess my promoting it year after year on these polls is starting to have some effect. lol. Seriously, I think LXDE choosing it as bundled WM has probably exposed a lot of folks to it.

There is a competition between Kwin and compiz. But my favorite COMPIZ got first.
|
WOW  Compiz actually won?? Unbelievable! w00t! :D
Honestly I thought one of the *boxes would win, LOL |
I've actually left the KDE 4 camp and therefore kwin. I was a die hard KDE fan. But the bugs have gotten to me.
I switched to XFCE and thus xfwm4 for a while. That was an improvement. Then I saw the poll on Fluxbox. I tried out all of Slackware's window managers. Fluxbox was really good. And fast. Login and *BOOM* your desktop is ready. And it's stable and bug free. I'm turning my back on Desktop Environments in general. A simple window manager is enough. Learning to tweak Fluxbox is well worth the time investment of a few days. I'm totally converted now. I can't see what I ever saw in full desktop environments now. |
