No foobar2000? Heh, it doesn't run on linux :( No JuK though? I've been getting into that lately, but i've been using XMMS on Linux for a while.

switched from xmms to amarok..

I LOVE AMAROK!

I voted for XMMS, but I actually use Beep-Media-Player, which is a GTK2 fork of XMMS. Therefore it does the same things as XMMS (Plugins, skins etc are all compatible with XMMS), but it has nicer menus and dialog boxes, etc.

No problem. Keep the nominations in all categories coming!

BTW, I agree that it's impossible to directly compare some of the apps. It's a fine line between having 200 awards and putting too many apps in the same single category. This category (along with the video cat) was a breakout from last years "Multimedia App of the year". The current situation may not be ideal, but hopefully you'll agree it's an improvement from last year.

I have to give it xmms, it uses less than 1% cpu to play my music. Amarok takes too much and I have never had an app crash on me so much. I can't do anything in it without it crashing on me. I used to use Juk as well but it was too buggy also and so I chose stability over features because it's really annoying to have an app crash every 20 minutes.

I'm missing the Beep-Media-Player, aka XMMS GTK 2 port :(

Why isn't MPD on the list? I can't vote unless my favorite's on there. It's so freaking awesome. I don't have to bother with some silly unneccasry GUI; it's great!

amaroK

It would be sad if XMMS wins another poll like this. XMMS is a dinosaur, it still uses GTK1. It would be like if fvwm won in Desktop Environments.

XMMS

MagicMan

XMMS, with mplayer codec plugin. Plays everything i need, and with the nice winamp skin i got looks nice and sleek on my fluxbox, highly customized eyecandy desktop. I am looking into Beep Media Player as we speak, sounds pretty nifty.
