Howto enable sudo in Debian

Posted 09-20-2012 at 11:21 AM by craigevil (craigevil's random words of wisdom)

Debian unlike other distros like Ubuntu does not come with sudo enabled by default. That said it is easy enough to set it up.

How to setup sudo:

1) Use visudo to edit your sudoers file
2) Add your user to the sudo group
Code:
adduser foo sudo
3) Or you can use gksu, or kdesu on KDE.

Or you can follow the simple steps here:

audio with tv tuner card

Posted 09-19-2012 at 07:12 PM by ted_chou12

I recently got audio with tv card, first must connect a physical wire (red, white, black) from the video tuner card to the mother board or your sound card, then do
Code:
modprobe snd-bt87x load_all=1
sox -t alsa hw:1,1 -t alsa hw:0,0
And you should be able to hear the sound as you change through the channels, (if still not, dont forget to max the pcm volume in your mixer options)
Code:
alsamixer
Thanks,
Ted

Gear To Go Digital Still Camera works with Ubuntu (!)

Posted 09-18-2012 at 10:55 AM by flshope

A decade or more ago, I bought a little digital camera at Walmart for $20, a Sakar Gear To Go Digital Still Camera. To see the pictures you had to run some sort of proprietary software, apparently on a Windows computer. I could never get it to work, and my old Windows 95 machine didn't even have a USB port. Even my first linux computers couldn't do anything with it. The OS didn't even recognize it as a USB device. But yesterday, fresh from a successful OS upgrade, and on a whim, I plugged it into...

libfind - Searches library files with keywords and paths from default values and /etc/ld.so.conf.

I made this utility along with binfind. It also has had lots of improvements since then.

This script can be used to search files contained in library files (*.so, *.la, *.a, etc.) based from keywords provided. Along with a custom list of default paths, it will search for libraries inside directories that are specified in /etc/ld.so.conf. It would also examine files that are specified by the "include" directive in it.

After preparations it would search for...
